Straight and Narrow

Cheaper Than Therapy
Many times in my youth the path led me away from the 'straight and narrow.' It took me places I shouldn't have gone. Just when it seemed there was no hope, a stretch of road such as this would come along and get me back on track. Sometimes it was a friend who led me back and walked with me. Other times it was a faithful pet walking into what looked like paradise that showed me the way. Luckily I always found my way back.
The past few years it has been the thoughts of family that has helped straighten my steps. Especially those who look to you for guidance. I am sure the road ahead won't remain this straight, but all those curves and detours of the past has shown me where not to go. Sometimes that is just as important as knowing where to go. When I look back, it wasn't the getting there that was important. It was the going.

Freedom, Pride and Hope

Cheaper Than Therapy
Nothing expresses freedom like a unbridled horse running free. Nothing displays pride more than a head held high, a straight back and assuredness of gait. Nothing gives hope like the setting sun on a free nation. On January 20, 2009--the United States of America took an historic step into the future. The preservation of our children and their childrens way of life is at stake. History will judge if their future was safe.

He Is The Light

This was taken down the lane at the end of the road at Matt and Amanda's. I think the photo speaks for itself.

Wolf Moon

I took this photo Saturday night. I hope you like it. Here is a little information on the Wolf Moon. The full moons were given names by the Native American in what is now the Northern and Eastern United States. The Algonguin Tribe named the full moons to keep track of the seasons. There have been some variations from tribe to tribe, but basically they are very close to the original. The early settlers continued the use of the names. Following is a list of these names: January---Wolf Moon

February--Snow Moon

March-----Worm Moon

April-----Pink Moon

May-------Flower Moon

June------Strawberry Moon

July------Buck Moon

August----Sturgeon Moon

September-Corn Moon

October---Harvest Moon

November--Beaver Moon

December--Cold/Long Night Moon

Beauty, It's All Around Us

This is one of my favorite photos. I took this a little over a year ago almost directly across the road from Vance and Andrea's former home. I was on my way home from letting the dog run, visiting all the B's and one J, when I saw the sunset was going to be beautiful. I took the dog home, got my camera and returned. I am glad I did. Before I really returned to my love for photography, I would not have noticed this. Now I wonder how I didn't see these things all along. Maybe hurrying to get this and that done is not as important as we think. As they say: "Take the time to stop and smell the roses." A little whiff of horse crap doesn't hurt either.

The Queen and the King

Yesterday (January 8th) was the King's Birthday. Today (January (9th) is the Queen's Birthday. This photo was taken when we were in Europe back in the early 80's. She is as beautiful today as she was then. If possible, I love her more. Funny thing about getting old. We finally figure out that we are not the most important person in the world. There are others who are just as important. I like it better that way.

Ladder of Success

They say you measure a man's success by his children. Judging from that I have been very successful. When you add the grandchildren, then I have been more successful and blessed. Pray you live long enough to enjoy what I have.

Almost Open Range

Hopefully doing the blog thing isn't like watching a "Chick Flick." I suppose if a couple of dudes like Vance and Mike are bloggers--it should be okay.
I like taking photos and belong to a photo club. This is a recent shot. Hopefully I will be able to contribute something as I stumble along. Take a look at "Mother From Son up to Son down" and you will find my daughter and my grandsons. I am just here to monitor her activities. Just joking.
